THE ROOTS OF HUMANKIND CONCERT: Saturday, 27 May 2017


The Cradle of Humankind came to life on Saturday with the rhythm of indigenous music performed by music legends:Philip Tabane, Madala Kunene, Pops Mohamed, The Urban Village, Skorokoro Ensemble and Tabia. 

People gathered for the Roots of Humankind Concert at the NIROX Sculpture Park to experience a rich cultural combination of music and food balanced by mindful ambience.

NIROX, Caleo Capital and GATHER together with Kaya FM and MINI created a unique platform for collective engagement amongst the OPEN LABORATORY Winter Exhibition 2017, which is available for viewing until end July 2017.

NIROX’S Winter Exhibition 2017 Launch does not disappoint – 7 May 2017

 

For its 2017 Annual culture Exhibition, NIROX  in collaboration with Caleo Capital,WITS, UCT, UJ, UP, TUT and UNISA inaugurated the NIROX Foundation’s programme for ongoing public institutions to produce and exhibit sculpture, installation and live performance in the NIROX Sculpture Park on Sunday, 7 May 2017. Joburg’s Artist, Business and Philanthropic communities shared an experiential showcase of unique talent, art, sculpture and culture captured in an all-inspiring altruistic context. A day of sensory delights and collaboration.

The EXHIBITION

Historically the vanguard of change, universities take center stage for this year’s annual winter exhibition. The universities appropriate the park to show ground-breaking work by 50 alumni artists, directed and curated by 12 ‘new voices’ – Dr. Same Mdluli. Dr Siona O’Connel & Jade Nair. Gordon Froud & Thabang Monoa. Johan Thom & Shenaz Mahomed. Carol Kuhn & Philiswa Lila. Gwenneth Miller, Maaike Bakker and Nombeko Mpako.

TUTTO Joburg’s iconic paella specialist expanded its horizons with the launch of the Spanish Feast in the Park at the Winter Exhibition on Sunday.

Guests were treated to fresh bread and authentic tapas including hand-shaven Jamón Serrano. The main act – Gourmet paellas – tantalizing the taste-buds with various sensory options. No Spanish fare is complete without traditional churros dipped in chocolate, as well as Poached Pears and Crema Catalana.
